Commercial Rooftop Solar: Roof Types | YSG Solar

Not every solar development firm can service rooftop solar generation facilities at scale. YSG has a compelling offer that allows us to install commercial rooftop systems at the most competitive rates with an all-in roofing solution. The roofing solutions ensure that your solar equipment and roof are packaged together with a long-term warranty. YSG packages up this offer and takes full responsibility for the project from construction through completion until year 25, or the end of the term.

Upon completion of the 20-25 year roof lease or power purchase agreement, you have the option to remove or re-power the equipment and extend your agreement in 5-to-10-year increments.

Composite or built-up rooftops are common. These are often the easiest to work with because the material is readily available.

Standing seam metal rooftops can be ideal for attaching commercial solar arrays because rooftop penetrations are not required to secure the array in place. We use a seam clamp to mechanically fasten the metal roofing to the solar array.

The modern roof membrane is generally a single-ply membrane made of a variety of different materials. These single-ply membranes can be excellent for rooftop solar arrays because they are long-lasting and easy to repair and maintain over time.

Working with a rock or gravel ballasted rooftop can be a challenge. In many locations the rocks will need to be removed to allow the solar array mounting system to make positive contact with the roof surface. If the rocks are not moved, they will be pushed into the membrane and provide locations for water settling and intrusion.
