In a recent blog post, we detailed an Order issued by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) on May 14, 2020. This Order served the purpose of extending and expanding distributed solar incentives. You can read that post in full here.
Among other things, the Order outlined an expansion of the NY-Sun program, in order to meet the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) target of 6 GW of distributed solar installations by 2025. Now, in response to the PSC Order, NYSERDA has filed its Operating Plan for the NY-Sun program.
The Operating Plan, available to read here, details NYSERDA’s plan for the extension and expansion of the NY-Sun program which has been successful in boosting New York solar thus far. Some of the key details from the Operating Plan are outlined below.
- Add 100 MW of capacity to Upstate Residential MW-Block.
- Add 18,010 MW of capacity to Upstate Commercial/Industrial MW-Block.
- Add Blocks to Parking Canopy/Rooftop Canopy (<25kW) Adders for nonresidential projects in Con Edison territory.
- $0.15/W Landfill/Brownfield Adder for nonresidential/commercial/industrial projects.
- A Community Adder for CDG projects located in utility territories not managed by LIPA or Con Edison where Community Credit/MTC allocations have been fully committed.
- A further 30 MW added to the existing Central Hudson Community Adder. This means the total Community Adder for Central Hudson is now 102 MW.
- The eligibility criteria for the existing Low-to-Moderate Income Onsite Residential Customer Incentive Adder has been updated.
- The Affordable Multifamily Housing Incentive (AMHI) Adder has been updated. Notably, the eligibility capacity cap has jumped from 50 kW to 200 kW.
These are just a few of the the most notable points outlined by NYSERDA throughout its Operating Plan for the NY-Sun program. Again, you can read the Operating Plan in its entirety here. The full plan goes into much deeper detail on the above points, as well as outlining all the key aspects of the Operating Plan moving forward.
